Predator versus Prey

I'm not sure what my obsession with bird-headed women is about...but it's been going on for some time. The above is in a group show at Eggman & Walrus gallery in Santa Fe this month....I had meant to don my life-size sparrow-headdress and romp around on opening nite, but deadlines are keeping me up late at night as it is, so some things have gotta go from the to-do list, no matter how fun.

"Octo-Kettle" image from current book project

Having a grand time mixing digital coloring and hand-drawn line/shading....the image is from a scene in the book, inside an ice-cream factory, of a tentacled copper kettle machine.  As I was intimidated about painting this, I just rendered it in graphite, added a watercolor wash to the arms, and scanned it in.  Digitally, I layered multiple transparent golden tones to the kettle body, until I got the look just right.
