Rattlesnake in the Road
Amazing music by Kate Mann...I was privileged to make this piece for her new album!

More peaceful, snowy scenes...
...from current children's book project. It snowed enough here, this spring, for me to paint from life rather than photos! I'm not a skier, so I have to learn to appreciate it as a lovely landscape, filling my window.

sketchy business card
Every once in awhile, I get to do a drawing-based design...I doodle amuck in a sketchbook and then just spend the final few minutes on the computer. I like that the client was feeling adventurous about the red-pink color scheme I proposed...

Community Doodle Nite! northern Taos area...
I'm running this on Friday nites in April. If yer local, come on by! Also if you are far away, but have private helicopter, we have a nice field for landing in, just to the left of the art center...

Predator versus Prey

I'm not sure what my obsession with bird-headed women is about...but it's been going on for some time. The above is in a group show at Eggman & Walrus gallery in Santa Fe this month....I had meant to don my life-size sparrow-headdress and romp around on opening nite, but deadlines are keeping me up late at night as it is, so some things have gotta go from the to-do list, no matter how fun.

From current book project with Parvenu Publishing

Due in June, along with a sequel....to be published (in Dutch) this coming Fall 2012. Crossin' my fingers for a future english translation!
"Octo-Kettle" image from current book project

Having a grand time mixing digital coloring and hand-drawn line/shading....the image is from a scene in the book, inside an ice-cream factory, of a tentacled copper kettle machine. As I was intimidated about painting this, I just rendered it in graphite, added a watercolor wash to the arms, and scanned it in. Digitally, I layered multiple transparent golden tones to the kettle body, until I got the look just right.
